Tripoli – Benghazi – Ptolemais – Qaser Libya – Apollonia – Cyrene – Benghazi – Tripoli – Leptis Magna – Sabratha - Tripoli

trip to Libya is ever long enough but if you have time or budget restrictions
then this tour allows you to see the main classical sites that Libya boasts. You will have plenty of time to experience the bustle of of the old town and souk of Tripoli, the extensive Roman ruins of Leptis Magna and the magnificent Roman theatre at Sabratha. Flying east you will stay in Benghazi and visit the magnificently well-preserved Roman capital of Ptolemais, Qaser Libya with its unrivalled collection of Byzantine mosaics, the ancient port of Apollonia, and the beautiful Greek city of Cyrene with its massive Doric Temple of Zeus.

Day 1
Tripoli - Benghazi 
Arrive Tripoli – internal flight to Benghazi. Benghazi is a large but relaxed city overlooking the marina and Mediterranean. Overnight Benghazi.

Day 2
Benghazi – Ptolemais – Qaser Libya - Apollonia
After breakfast, depart to Ptolemais, the magnificently well-preserved Roman Capital in a wonderful setting looking out over the sea. Then on to Qaser Libya home to one of the largest collections of Byzantine mosaics. Then on to Apollonia, the ancient port serving Cyrene with it’s ancient theatre carved into the rocks. Overnight Apollonia.

Day 3
Apollonia – Cyrene – Benghazi - Fly to Tripoli 
After breakfast, head to the beautiful Greek city of Cyrene where you will visit the Agora (town square), and the stunning temples of Zeus and Apollo. Return to Benghazi for your flight to Tripoli. Overnight Tripoli.

Day 4 Tripoli – Leptis Magna - Tripoli
Morning drive to Leptis Magna, originally a Berber settlement, the city was founded by the Phoenicians around 3000 years ago. Leptis Magna has some of the most impressive and intact ruins of the Roman period, including a magnificent theatre, the basilica, Hadrianic baths and circus. Overnight Tripoli.

Day 5 Tripoli
Day dedicated to visit of Tripoli, you will visit the old town, the Ahmed Karamalli Pasha mosque and the old medina with its narrow alleyways, elegant mosques and animated souk. You will also visit the Tripoli Jamahiriya Museum, home to one of the finest collections of classical art in the Mediterranean. Overnight Tripoli.

Day 6
Tripoli – Sabratha – Tripoli -
Depart 
Morning drive to Sabratha, the westernmost of the three cities of Tripolis. Established c.500BC as a trading post by the Phoenician merchants, Sabratha is home to one of the world’s most magnificent Roman Theatres and spectacular mosaics of the Byzantine period.
Late afternoon departure for London.
